Kill(ed)ebrew

Harmon Killebrew was killed by cancer the other day.... and everyone in the Dead League morns the fact that he went undrafted. I put this on you Dead Leaguers how did we miss the fact that he had cancer in our research. Your better than that.

Seve Seve Seve...

A Long walk up the 18th fairway of life for Mr. Seve Ballesteros a 5x major champion in golf. At age 54 he was a nice score for team Stiff Competition with a point total of 66 they are moving up the leader board. Maybe we should get a green jacket for this little competition...or a black one, but everyone has a black sport coat? Maybe we could get a kick ass logo on it. That is your challenge loyal readers, design a kick ass black sport coat for the winner of the dead league.

Dear Bin Laden....

I hope Sadam has kept your seat warmer than it should be.

To all the fans of our blog, I am not going to dignify this man with his picture on this website. For the past 3 years he has gone undrafted on purpose do to our belief that even if he was killed we may never know or have actual confirmation about the death. Therefore no team will be claiming points, which in this sites first piece of introspection, seems appropriate that no one but the families of his victims get solace out of this event.

#Winning the Election in the Sky...Duhh

So no one scores on the passing of Geraldine Ferraro which is a little sad, here at The Dead League we like to celebrate the lives of recently departed "celebrities." So it is with heavy hearts that we do not get to do so with Ms. Ferraro...wait this is a blog and we do what we want. No one scores but we will still have some fun, why could she not have run as VP for Gerald Ford? Gerald & Geraldine? best campaign stickers ever, people wouldn't know if it was an election for president, a cheesy 70's sitcom or a cheesy 70's porn which is fantastic. Actually can some one make either the sitcom or the porn we would enjoy either or both.... ok that is enough.

Some House Cleaning Deaths

In the past month, seeing this is not our full time job at The Dead League, we have missed a few "under the radar" deaths. We apologizes to the families of these people as their pictures will not be posted here, however the scoring has been updated to reflect these deaths. In order of passing;

Bruce Gordon - American Actor from TV's "The Untouchables"

Gordon Murray - Wall St. Banker/ Author died of Brain Cancer

Eunice Sanborn - Former Oldest Living American @ 114 years

scoring for these got a wee bit complicated as some qualified for blood baths and others for two in a row bonuses.

Cleopatra is Dead

And perhaps our most famous death of 2011 so far is Elizabeth Taylor, the "Mother of Survival." I bet she is eating those words now. Taylor 79 is a nice return with 41 points for Living in Oblivion as well as a bloodbath bonus for the death of Pinetop Perkins as well, that is an extra 25 points.

So Long Pinetop...

I don't believe there will ever be another Pinetop Perkins, mostly because children generally are not named "Pinetop." However a google search revealed that we have lost possibly the last "great pre-WWII" jazz musician. Can we agree that we are close to losing anyone who lived "pre-WWII" ? Anyway team Dead Presidents in now on the board with a score of 23 for this death.
