Sorry Miss Edwards

So as we have not posted in something like 300 days, don't call it a comeback. Over the next few days I'm going to update all the scoring and next week is our live draft. There maybe some new teams, some new faces and definitely some new stiffs in the new year. Keep your eyes and browsers glues to Dead League or else...

Some House Cleaning and Corey Haim

So that just happened like a week ago, and I can't believe he was undrafted. How does no one take a washed up child actor with a drug problem? And what was the money line on which Corey would die first? +350? More? Anyway Corey Haim would have been huge points so everyone should be kicking themselves.
Other Deaths in the month of February include;
John Murtha
Phil Harris (deadliest Catch)
Charlie Wilson (of the movie)
T bone Wolk
and several others...happy trails my friends

Scoring Correction

It has been brought to my attention that Maggie Renfro was scored incorrectly. After the death of JD Salinger, Davey Bones' Locker should have been credited with the requisite points for a blood bath score with Salinger & Renfro in one week. Scoring will be corrected to reflect this change.

Thanks,
Managment

Is it Funnier or Sadder when a Little Person Dies?

I say funnier but half as sad. So long to Poltergeist star Zelda Rubinstein who bit the big one at age 76. She pulls in a nice haul of 44 points for age plus a blood bath bonus for Corpses' Bride nice pick up. Also, Living in oblivion will get the added blood bath bonus as well. This passing also begs the question, how many people named Zelda have ever been eligible for drafting in the Dead League? Special shout out to anyone who can provide the answer...

Catcher & the Rye's Cheese Death Sceen

Reclusive JD Salinger is dead at 91, he is survived by his son and was drafted in the 14th Round by Living in Oblivion. It was a default pick so I can't say nice pick about this one. However you know something is wrong with a person when the most recent photo of them is from the 1950's. So his life was weird but his death was lame, natural causes according to the son, I think the author of a great literary work could have come up with a better end to the story, but that is just me.

Maggie Renfro Meets her maker...

Maggie Renfro, one of the oldest people in the world died. She was 114 years old and worth 6 points. Congrats to Davy Bones' Locker on the pick, but your going to need alot more deaths to try and win this thing.

A Note on Chemical Ali...

Because the rules state that executions by the state do not count as points, Chemical Ali was not scored, however after a debate by those involved in the league here is the ruling by the league comish (I am not the league comish but thanks for asking):

A few days ago a few of us discussed the contentious topic of why Chemical Ali was allowed to stay high in the default list in spite of a high probability of being disqualified since a death sentence was already announced by year-end (while other names such as Osama were skipped over later in the draft for reasons of non-verifiability of a kill).  We could come to no satisfactory resolution, with the creator of the list rightly claiming the finite probability he could have died in a different way than being executed by the state.  In order to alleviate somewhat the perceived injustice done to the Team with No Name, I've decided to (one time only) scratch Chemical Ali from their franchise players (as if he'd died last year) and mark Mitch Miller as the replacement franchise player. Hope everyone is in agreement.

So there you have it folks.

Jyoti Basu Dead @ 95

You might be thinking to yourself who the f%#* is that guy? Well friends, one he did make the AP wire, and two he is the former Chief Minister of West Bengal India, and one of the longest serving elected Communists. He was 95 at his death and was selected by Ethereal Spirits in the 9th round. Congrats for the 25 point score.

If you don't know him by now...

Teddy Pendergrass dies at 59 so you will never, never, never know him. Alas no one scores so that is a pain in the ass except for Mr. Pendergrass who had colon cancer...was that over a line? probably

First Blood is...A Little Old Lady who helped fight the Nazi's

I feel really good about myself this morning as the first blood for the year is Miep Geis who is the definition of "Little Old Lady" who also by the way helped hide Anne Frank from the SS, so what did she really do for society in the 20th century other than save a work of literature that has influenced millions of people. Congrats Team with no Name you get the first blood bonus plus the 20 age points.

Artie Lange...Almost Buddy

Almost buddy, had your mom not walked in on your 9X stabbing spree of yourself we might have been able to chalk this up to First Blood. Better Luck next time!

P.S. How embarrassing is it to have your mom walk in on your suicide attempt.

J&J Heiress Dies and No one Scores

Today, Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson was found dead in her LA home by wife Tila Tequila. And as an aside, when you marry someone with the last name Tequila you are probably in trouble to begin with. However Mrs. Johnson went undrafted in the Dead League possibly due to her young age and unknown association with Ms. Tequila. RIP Casey Johnson
